Haunted Changi Review

Considering that it is a local low budget horror movie.
I commend on their effort, trying something new.
It's not very often that you see locally produced horror films.

Basically, Old Changi Hospital is now fenced up totally, most likely because of this film.
Not fencing it up will most likely turn it into a tourist spot, as people who have watched the film will want to explore the place themselves.

This film's setting is mostly set in OCH.
Watched it because i can no longer go there and explore it on my own, and i want to see the place.
So this film is the closest that i can get.

The actors' acting is alright, only a little fake when it comes to the interviews.
It's not one of those super scary horror movies, but it's creepy at some parts.

So if you haven't watched it, watch it with an open mind, and you might enjoy it.
And did i mention the trailer is pretty well done?

Cashback Review

Witty and funny film.
Sets you thinking, just like "500 Days of Summer".
Oh, if you haven't caught any of them yet, i suggest you do.

117 Km breached!

So it finally happened.
The amazing round Singapore bike trip happened.
One of the greatest things i have done in 2010.

26th December 2010,Sunday,
More than 10 towns, More than 100 roads, More than 12 MRT stations, More than 20 Shopping Centres.
From North-East, East, South-East, South, South-West, West, North-West, North and back.
117Km, 13Hrs 25mins elapsed timing, 1Hr resting time, 12Hrs 25mins pure biking time.
All done within 24Hrs.

Tears, Sweat and Blood sacrificial guaranteed.
Are you ready? Here we go!!

7.50 am Location: BuangKok East Dr/ BuangKok Bridge

So it is on this sacred spot where we met up to begin our many years in the making biking trip. Many years in the making?? This is not some ordinary neighbourhood ride folks. This is a biking trip, that will cover most of the towns lying in the perimeter of Singapore. And "we"? Yes my biking buddy, also best friend, Dominic Nah aka.Dom,
was there to make this extraordinary trip happen. Yet he still over slept -,- LOL!
Alright, alright... i shall not dampen the mood, and i don't blame you at all alright Dom? lol. And here goes!

This is our will...And this...Is our Legacy.

The Holy Light!

Started out nice and fresh, and made a beeline for Old Tampines Rd.
Drifted through Old Tampines Rd and made a dash from there towards Pasir Ris.
Passed by Ikea and Giant along the way, and we have arrived in our first town destination Pasir Ris. Made our way towards White Sands. Had breakfast there at Subway. Dom had a stomach ache,dam.... So we wasted quite abit of time there. Probably 20mins??
And also we found interesting bike parking in the vicinity.

Double decker bike parking, smart, efficient. Genius.

On this trip, i am determined to check out as many interesting places as possible. And one of them is Old Changi Hospital aka. OCH. Yes, said to be haunted, but i thought otherwise. One major checkpoint which cannot be missed.

Sadly, the government has barricaded up the whole place.
Probably due to the "successful" making of the movie "Haunted Changi"?

Guess they don't wanna let the place be turned into a tourist spot.
So i only managed to scan across the exterior of the place from the other side of the fence.

Then came the grueling part. Made our way past DownTown East and Pasir Ris Park.
Arrived at Changi Beach. Here stands bout 10+Km before we will arrive at East Coast Park. So we rode the whole Changi Coast Road Stretch. My ass was beginning to hurt then.Just a little.

12.00+ pm Location: East Cost Park
Here, another 15+km awaited us. The whole East Cost Park stretch was conquered.
And into the CBD we go!!

Here on Benjamin Shears Bridge. Tough work getting up there. Had to carry our bikes and climb 6 stories up some flight of stairs. But we still made it eventually.

Singapore's city outline.

Marina City Golf course.

F1 starting point!!

Made our way down Benjamin Shears Bridge. The down hill ride was fun! Maybe a blessing in disguise for us climbing stairs instead of riding up from the other side of the bridge.

1* pm Location: Double Helix Bridge/Marina Integrated Resort
Then we officially arrived in the City.Let the pictures talk shall we?

Those white spots which you see on the water surface. Apparently they were wishes written down by people and were left to float on the Singapore River. Hmmmmm interesting.

Hey, hey...Marina Floating Platform. See the green patch on the lower left hand corner? Apparently the stage has been converted into a soccer field. Synthetic grass of course. Sure wanna play soccer one day on the Marina Floating Platform. That would be cool! But what if a high ball lands the ball in the water???

Less than 30% there, but still going!! Just smile and wave =)

Didn't realize how beautiful the IR is until i captured some "artistic" shots.

The definition of cool.

Then we arrived at this broad walk like area on the opposite side of the Singapore River. And the scenery there just made our jaws drop. Didn't realize how much Singapore has developed.

Now...Where the hell did all these new buildings come from??? They are not the only ones. There were a few more down the street, with super unique architecture. Curves here and there. They seem to be built without the center of gravity being present at all. Amazing!
This can only prove that Singapore's economy is doing well. Well done Singapore.
Proud to be a Singaporean.

So we carried on with our journey to the west. We were searching for cantonment street, which is key to tracing the MRT line. Then we came across something.

Oh yeah baby!! THE PINNACLE!! Can you believe it is actually a HDB!? 50 stories!!
Got to be the tallest HDB blocks in Singapore!! The view from up there must be totally amazing!!Again, another proof to Singapore's economy and architectural success!

We eventually found the MRT line. This will be the second grueling part to our journey. It is the green MRT line, East-West Line if i am not wrong. And we are about to ride almost 3/4 of it. Bout 13 MRT stations. Just hurts to think of the distance lol. But we went ahead.

Ok this might just be a MRT sign to you, but to us at that time, it was an achievement and a motivation to push us to continue. Chinese Garden, one of the many stations in the East-West Line, told us that we were already 3/4 done before reaching our target MRT station. Boon Lay.

And finally!! Boon Lay! With Jurong Point in sight too!! The feeling is so bloody great i tell you! But we are not done. We are only 60% done in fact. Time to stock up on supplies and face greater endurance in the last 40% of the journey. With supplies stocked up, we were ready to go!
Here we come Lim Chu Kang!!

We cut across Choa Chu Kang town to hit Lim chu Kang Rd eventually. This is one of the favourite parts of our biking trip. Why?? Cause we are gonna explore the cemeteries and also the infamous Neo Tiew Abandoned HDB estate!

Christian Cemetery..Gotta Love It!!

And still not enough of them!!

Apparently along the way, we also came across Chinese Cemeteries too, but i thought we had enough pictures already. They were similar to the Christian ones, with graves littering all over the acres of land like fallen leaves, only that the Chinese ones looked like wells.

While we were riding along Lim Chu Kang, i felt that the road has a very tranquil feeling to it. Perhaps because of the super wide road lanes? And with the blue evening sky as the background, it enhances the feeling even further. It gives you the feeling like you are in a dream, and traveling on a road to nowhere.

And finally, the long awaited destination. Neo Tiew Abandoned Estate!!!!
Though my second time there, but this time we explored it in the day. Though the night one was more exciting. But in the day, we can look out for more details, so it's a whole new different experience.

Dare you to play on the slide?
Or perhaps the see-saw?? lol!

Shop houses before they were abandoned.

Don't think i will exercise there anytime soon lol.

While we were there, there was already a group of Indians playing those traditional drums in the estate. Why the hell are they doing that there anyway???
And surprisingly, the security guard didn't even approach them to chase them off, considering the ruckus that they were creating.
We were a little hesitant at first to enter, as we were afraid that they were a gang and will come slashing at us with parangs or something.
But we took the risk and acted innocent before entering. It is a too good chance to miss! No way are we missing out on Neo Tiew Abandoned Estate.

Trespassers will be shot. Survivors will be shot again. lol!
Yeah we are actually not supposed to be in there, but... who cares!
It's the adventure that we are seeking. No risk no gain right? lol.
But i really hated the mosquitoes, idiotic blood sucking morons -,-..

And from here onwards. It was a race for home. We know the way, but the only task is the distance to ride..ouch...
Neo tiew Rd stretch was a really torturous one. Look to the left and right and you see only vegetation. It's like you are traveling in a maze.
But eventually we popped out at the reservoir, thank god! Lower Seletar Reservoir if i am not wrong. And you can also see Johor Bahru from there!

The next part of the journey will be the most torturous of them all.My butt was already hurting like hell at that time. Each stride on the pedals feels like a knife cutting into my ass!

Made a rush to Marsiling, by passed the Kranji MRT station, also where the horse betting turf club is. Reached Marsiling MRT, and continued towards Woodlands MRT.
Did a stretch there, as i can really feel my body breaking into pieces.
Really. At that point in time, it really felt that way.A feeling horrible to withstand.
But we never gave up, and continued to Admiralty MRT. We didn't by pass Sembawang MRT because we supposedly used a "short-cut". Wonder how much of a short-cut it really was 0.o...

You realize that i didn't take much photos here because we were trying to break a time record. So we were literally "flying" from town to town on our bikes.

So after skipping Sembawang, we hit Yishun!! Arrrghgh! The place is so familiar! because one thing, my grandma house is close by, and another is that my parents and i always go to the GV cineplex there for movies!

And then....We hit Khatib. I almost broke down man i tell you. Because that is where my grandma's house is. The place where i had lived 6 years of my life under her care.
I felt so close to home. I wanna run up to her house, and tell her the thing that i am about to accomplish. But there was a time record to beat, and it is not time to give up yet! So we stocked up on our supplies further at the Khatib MRT station.

And then!? Bam!! We were off!!! The final leg!! The last 10+ Kms keeping us from achieving our goal! I rode and i rode, my brain was numb, my legs were riding on their own. Repeating the cycle again and again. Ride ride ride ride was all that was going through my mind.

We hit Jalan Kayu, No! We are not stopping for pratas!!!
We raced through Punggol and Sengkang, the traffic light luck seemed to be with us.
At every road junction, the traffic lights will turn green for us.
It is like the traffic lights are cheering us on too!!

We made a dash! and dam!!! The last traffic light junction had to turn red.....
But YES!!!!!!!! WE DID IT!!!! 117Km in 12Hrs 25Mins!! We have done it!!!!!
The feeling must be one of the most awesome feeling in the world!!

And with that, we ended back at the exact spot which we were at exactly 13Hrs 25Mins ago. This sums up our Legendary Round Singapore Trip. If you have read the whole post, i thank you. I am happy to share this achievement with you. And thank you Dom, this would not have been possible without you.

Can't believe i took 3hrs to post this up lol! Till next time, See ya!
