Don't have pictures with me, they are with Yu Xiang. So i shall illustrate using words then =)
Again another late post.....-,- Cause i'm lazy..hee
Went to the estate last Friday with, Nicholas,Clinton,LX,Yu Xiang and Botter.
So that made up a 6 man team.
We were transported to the location at 2100++,with the bus 975,also the only bus which turns into the Lim Chu Kang Rd.
I think the bus driver must have been rather shocked as we were the only ones to alight at that bus stop.
When we stepped off the bus,the stench of animal droppings was very bad.Probably due to the animal farms nearby.
It was a clear night, with a full moon guiding us to our target location.
There before us loomed Neo Tiew Estate.
An estate in Singapore which was abandoned more than a decade ago,due to the En-Bloc policy.
We stormed the Estate, checking out every single corner of it.
The estate is rather small. 3 HDB blocks of not more than 5 levels.A wet market. Some shop houses. And?? Thats it!!
Very small Estate indeed.
But in the night it was rather creepy, the estate was totally abandoned and the only soul in sight was the night guard on duty.Yeah...we somehow got in there "illegally",but hey, nothing wrong with visiting an abandoned place as long as you don't damage or try anything funny right??
The Estate was used for Fibua training for the Army guys for awhile, but after their new facility was built, the estate lost its usefulness, and returned to its old forsaken state.
So we found target boards and stuff in the HDB blocks, the apartments were also all linked up!!In the sense that a hole was made between 2 apartments,so we could literally walk from one apartment to another without even walking out of the front door.Pretty cool ai??The hole was carved pretty low,so we had to bend down into like a crawling position, before we made it to the other side.
It felt like some obstacle course to us man!
But it was an eye opener for me,as i would have never thought that such a place would exist in Singapore!!
Its a whole town!!Abandoned!!So cool!!!!!!
It is located at a junction between Lim Chu Kang Rd and Neo Tiew Rd,Check it out with a few friends one night if you are up for it.You won't regret.
But do be careful as the place is already very old,so make sure that the stairs and ladders are sturdy enough to hold your weight before climbing them.
Otherwise the next thing you will have to do is call "995"...
Hello. Are you sure that the army isn't using this place for their FIBUA anymore? i'm planning to go there on a saturday. Appreciate if you can aid me in this! thank you. Email me would be better to communicate! (sgdevilzz@yahoo.com)
ReplyDeletehaha! Hi stranger. Actually i've been to the estate twice already, once in the day and the other at night.
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure no more trainings are carried there anymore, however practice caution when entering as the security might or might not stop you. Better to be safe then sorry so just ninja past them. Also becareful of the surrounding like rusty nails on the ground and stuff. Some parts of the estate might be overgrown with weeds so safety first no matter what. For a better experience a night expedition will be nice. The scouting of the abandoned blocks will be cool. But ALWAYS bring light sources if you are going at night. That about covers all the important points. Have fun with the trip =)
thank you very much for the useful information! I appreciate you pointing out the important parts of the area. I didn't know there are security guards still roaming around! I'm going in the day as i feared that the night will be too dangerous for me :)
ReplyDeleteWell i don't have a bicycle with me so that makes it even harder for me to get there :/
Thank you very much for your time and effort in providing the information to me :) Good day to you too!
Oh yes, by the way, i've searched in google maps but i can't find the estate! even in satellite mode i'm having trouble finding it. Do you know where is the location? where is it nearby? For example, the bollywood veggies?
ReplyDeleteoh cause it is no longer labeled on the map.
ReplyDeleteSupposedly it should be a protected area, but who cares lol.
However if you have a street directory, there will be an unlabeled estate icon at that spot. If you do not have a bike, taking bus 975 in is also quite convenient. 975 can be taken from bukit panjang interchange. Since you're going in the day, the estate should be quite noticable when you turn into the road. But having a street directory with you always helps.
Actually i don't mind bringing you guys there when i'm free. If you're interested you can add me on msn if you like =)

Anyway you can also check out my post '117 Km breached' in January of 2011. I went around singapore on a bike and went back to the estate the second time in the day. I have photos in the post with descriptions. So that should give you an idea of what the place is like =) Though it was a less thorough exploration, so i didn't explore the abandoned blocks this time round so no photos lol.
ReplyDeleteYes i saw that blog entry yesterday :) Man, that place looks awesome. I'm going to have a film shoot there as well.
ReplyDeleteBus 975, hmm... When you said "turn into the road", do you mean from Old chua chu kang road turn right into Lim chu kang road? I used the "GoThere.Sg" iphone app and it says to stop near Lim chu kang Lane 4, near the Hay Dairies.
Yep! As long as you take 975, it's pretty sure that you will find the place.
